The world is constantly changing before our eyes. We live in a very ungodly world, but God has given us the role of being a godly mom in the midst of it. As we live in the last days, we must be unshakeable especially while raising our children, and God’s word tells us exactly how to do that!
A Godly Mom Prays
In a world full of evil and sin, a godly mom understands the value of prayer. As moms, we shouldn’t go a day without praying. There are so many scriptures about prayer and the results that can be achieved when we have faith and trust God. The Bible even instructs us to pray nonstop.
Pray without ceasing… 1 Thessalonians 5:17
Pray for your husband and your children. Cover your family with prayer daily. Speak life and positive words over them.
As you spend time reading your bible and get it in your heart, you can pray God’s word. When your husband needs wisdom, pray James 1:5 over him and thank God that he will receive wisdom from the Lord liberally. If your child is sick, you can pray 1 Peter 2:24, by His stripes your child was healed!
You can pray anywhere and at any time. When you feel overwhelmed or anxious, stop and pray. Take every opportunity to invite God into your daily activities and talk to Him throughout the day. Remember, prayer is simply talking to God. Talk to Him in the car, during your shower, in the kitchen, etc.
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; Philippians 4:6 NKJV
Constant daily prayer is an important and powerful aspect of a godly mom’s life.
The Holy Spirit leads Godly Mothers
An unshakeable godly mom is led by the Holy Spirit. Not only does she pray, but she slows down to get quiet and listen as He speaks.
When He speaks to you, listen and obey quickly. He may whisper to your heart, give you the answer to a prayer, speak through a passage in the Bible, or minister to your heart with a devotional or through a friend.
Expect God to lead you and help you throughout the day when you ask Him to. His leadership and His help change and improve your life for the better!
Being led by the Holy Spirit also means that you are not ruled by your flesh. You are quick to hear and slow to speak. You behave as an ambassador for Christ in a way that is pleasing to God.
There should be a very clear distinction between a woman of the world and a godly woman. We are called to speak, behave, and dress differently. Our goal is to serve and please God in all that we do.
So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31 NLT
When we are led by the spirit of God we set a great example for our families. Our children watch and learn how to behave because they see their godly mom modeling it for them.
For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children[a] of God. Romans 8:14 NLT
Godly Moms Teach Their Children
Unshakeable godly moms prioritize teaching their children. They understand that the world will teach the children if their mothers do not.
The Bible instructs us to teach our children the Bible and to love God.
You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. Deuteronomy 6:7 NKJV
We should instill the word of God into our children when they are young and continue to do so as they get older. Teach them God’s heart, His love, and commands. Ensure that your children know how to love others, and be representatives for Jesus in their wherever they go.
Teach them right from wrong, good from evil, and help them understand the things that break God’s heart as well as how to please Him.
Expose them to content that glorifies God, music that magnifies Him, and guard their hearts by setting boundaries as the Holy Spirit leads.
Pray together as a family regularly, teach your kids the bible, allow worship music to permeate your home, and teach your children biblical principles and values.
A godly mother is intentional about training her children in the ways of God and encouraging them down the right path. It doesn’t happen by accident.
Train up a child in the way he should go,
And when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6 NKJV
A Godly Mother Fears the Lord
One valuable quality of a godly mother is that she fears the Lord. This means that she is in complete reverence and honor of Him. She doesn’t want to break His heart and she can’t stand the idea of being apart from Him.
Give God your undivided attention and put Him first. Seek Him before anything else. Prioritize Him above all else. This lifestyle leads to life and satisfaction.
The fear of the Lord leads to life, And he who has it will abide in satisfaction; He will not be visited with evil. Proverbs 19:23 NKJV
Make up in your mind that no matter what everyone else is doing, you will honor God with your life. No matter what the world accepts and deems permissible, you will always stand for God’s truth.
The Bible tells us that we are blessed if we fear the Lord and delight in His word.
Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, Who delights greatly in His commandments. Psalm 112:1 NKJV
Make the word final authority in your life and your children will learn and follow your example.
A Woman of God Demonstrates the Fruit of the Spirit
A woman of God allows the power of God to work in her heart. She is open to growth, development, and change. She allows God to mold and shape her.
One way God will do this in your life is by helping you cultivate the fruit of the spirit in your life. He understands that this is a process, and He extends grace as He lovingly works in you. Jesus demonstrated these fruits of the spirit and you can too.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 [a]gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23 NKJV
The fruit you bear allows others to identify you as God’s daughter. The Bible says we shall know them by their fruit. We can look at a person’s life and actions and tell if they belong to God or the enemy.
In the same way, people will recognize you as a child of God based on your fruit. Allow God to cultivate good fruit in you. As you grow in developing these fruits, you can also teach the same traits to your children. Teach them the fruit of the spirit and help them start practicing them in their lives.
Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. Matthew 7:17 NKJV
Conclusion
God has given you the grace to be a godly mom. His word gently encourages His children to pray without ceasing and to live by the spirit. He will help you as you seek to teach and train your children. Rely on Him and don’t attempt to do it in your strength.
The Bible says that when you fear the Lord you are blessed. It also explains what the fruits of the spirit are. God will be patient with you and gently correct you as you develop them and demonstrate them to your family. So, be encouraged and don’t give up because you can do all things through Christ who gives you strength.
