Day 106 Psalm 56, 120, 140-141
Today’s Psalms are connected to the events we’ve read about David in 1 Samuel. He is a fugitive, running from King Saul, who is seeking to kill him. David was also captured by the Philistines and pretended to be insane to get away. He’s living in caves and rocks and is unable to keep the feasts or celebrations, or to offer sacrifices and offerings at the tabernacle. He had to leave his wife, Michal, and his best friend, Jonathan, so that he could flee for his life. Things are very hard for him! Yet he still praises God in his Psalms. He shares his pain and struggles with God honestly, but he also gives God praise during his prayers. He reminds himself of who God truly is, and he is committed to trusting in the LORD.
