Day 97 Ruth 1-4
Today, we read the book of Ruth. Ruth demonstrated great character and was faithful to her mother-in-law, Naomi, when she had the opportunity to leave, go home, and start over. She was a Moabite; her people served other gods. However, Ruth forsook that and chose to follow YHWH, the God of Naomi.
God blessed her and turned an unfortunate situation and mess (she was a gentile and a widow with no provision) into a miracle. He used her kind and gracious heart to lead her to her kinsman redeemer, Boaz. He took on the responsibility of provision and protection just as Jesus is our Redeemer and took us in and became our Provider and Protector (plus so much more!). This union leads to the lineage of Jesus Himself! Incredible! The book of Ruth is short but powerful and gives us another glimpse of who God is and how much He loves us.
