Day 92 Judges 8-9
Today's passages are very interesting. When we slow down and understand these stories, we can see the character and heart of the people involved. Gideon demonstrated fear, doubt, insecurity, and even arrogance and pride. He became self-absorbed. Yet, we also see that God used him to defeat the Midianites, giving Israel 40 years of peace. Peace from war, not necessarily peace with God. While we know that God does not condone sin- He can't stand it, but He can use people who make mistakes to fulfill His purposes. He is merciful and gracious and patient. At the end of the day, this is His story, and He receives the glory in it all. He alone is perfect and He enacts justice when needed.
