Day 88 Joshua 22-24
Today, we conclude the book of Joshua. It ends with the Transjordan tribes heading back to their own inheritance of land after helping the rest of Israel acquire their land. When they get home, they build an altar, which makes the rest of Israel upset, and they want to wage war against Transjordan Israel. Transjordan Israel explains the purpose of the altar and clarifies that they serve YHWH, and the situation is diffused. In these chapters, Joshua reminds Israel to serve the LORD with all their hearts and not to fall into idolatry or intermarriage with those who don’t serve YHWH. Israel says they will commit to the LORD. Joshua dies at the age of 110 years old. Eleazar (Aaron’s son) also dies, and his son, Phineas, will be next up in the role of high priest. Joseph’s bones are finally buried in the land God allotted to the tribe of Joseph. This is also the same land that Jacob bought many years prior in the book of Genesis. Joshua concludes and turns out to be a satisfying story!
