Day 57 Numbers 7 Chronological Bible Study Notes

Day 57 Numbers 7

In chapter 7, the Levites are given oxen and carts based on their duties. The Kohathites did not receive oxen and carts because they had the special duty of carrying holy objects on their shoulders with poles. In this chapter, we read about the chief of each of the 12 tribes of Israel offering a generous gift. It begins with Nahshon from the tribe of Judah, and the rest of the chiefs follow his lead. As a result of such giving (the heart behind giving does matter), there is a new level of communication between God and His people that has been established. Moses and God spoke directly to each other in the sanctuary. While this chapter may seem to be pretty repetitive, the last verse of the chapter makes things interesting. Moses heard the voice of the LORD speaking to him from above the mercy seat that was on the ark of the testimony from between the two cherubim.

God uses the gift of one to bless the whole. He uses our giving to bless others, and we are also blessed ourselves. Giving is a two-way street that isn’t limited to money. It includes money, but it also includes our time, gifts, talents, skill sets, possessions, and abilities. The Bible says that when we give, it will be given unto us…it also says it is more blessed to give than receive. Who can you bless with your giving today?

Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you. Luke 6:38

I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive. Acts 20:35
