Day 48 Leviticus 14-15 Chronological Bible Study Notes

Day 48 Leviticus 14-15

In chapter 14, the LORD spoke to Moses and gave him the laws for the cleansing of lepers. It is similar to the consecration ceremony for priests that we read about in chapter 8. The priests collected the items needed for the unclean person. The priest is the one who mediates and makes atonement to reconcile God and humanity. Now, Jesus is our Great High Priest (Hebrews 10:10-21). The LORD also prepared the Israelites for their future in Canaan and provided instructions on how to handle a leprosy-like disease, like mold, in their houses.

In chapter 15, He gives the Israelites laws about bodily discharges. He explains what discharges (like reproductive discharge) make them unclean. It’s important to note that these discharges are not being labeled as gross or sinful; they are not. These discharges simply make God’s people unclean for a brief period of time because there is brokenness attached to them since sin entered the world in Genesis.

Today’s takeaway:

  • God knows we can’t cleanse ourselves. We can’t heal or save ourselves. We need Him. So, He provides everything we need for healing and cleansing, and He made sure it was brought to us. Just as the priests provided those with leprosy with everything they needed for cleansing. The unclean couldn’t get it for himself because if he touched it, he would make it unclean, and it would not be usable for sacrifice. God made a way for you. He sent Jesus and provided everything you need to be cleansed by the blood of His Son.
